Chippy, three days ago you didn't seem to have any problem with Schindler's antics when you corrected my nomination for his being the biggest pig, and I quote:

I think it's unfair to be celebrating schindler for what he did one day and then saying that what he did was "fucked up" three days later.

Perhaps it's best just to drop the biggest pig award, because at the moment all it seems to be doing is offending and pissing people off.

I support the award for biggest pig for this year. Most of the  nominations for biggest pig are funny and mostly they are harmless stupid things done when drunk. But i agree with Hol that recognising acts done that are degrading to other ppl (mostly girls) should not be "celebrated." The whole Schindler thing is not a "pig" act in the way that most of the girls interpreted what it means to be a pig. We mostly thought that a pig act was something that was wrong but what happened that night is just plain fucked up! My ten cents. xx

Hey Guys, I was asked to make an award for the biggest pig by most of the boys who went to AUGs this year. If the concensus within the whole club is that it should not happen then so be it, makes no difference to me.

While I can admit that at times the whole "pig" thing at AUGs was funny, and that the boys are entitled to have their own personal jokes, and that yes, there may be a place for a "Biggest Pig" award at BEAFS this year, I totally disagree with the nominations going up on the website for Schindler's antics. What he did was not in any way funny or right and should not be rewarded or recognised in any way, shape or form. What he portrayed was nothing  but complete and utter disrespect for a girl and he shouldn't be proud of it. So yes, we can call him a pig, but it's not the kind of pig that I want to be alikened to when describing everyone from this years AUGs as pigs and babes.

On a separate note, while I totally agree that brawls with other Sydney Uni Sporting clubs is not desirable nor in the spirit of Uni Games or Sydney Uni Touch, and I'm all for socialising and having fun with members of other clubs, the altercation between our touch boys and the soccer boys started because one of the soccer boys found it necessary to chase me around and headbutt me, and when I tried to push him away he grabbed me by the hair and punched me square in the jaw... Not really the kind of people I want to be associating with anyway.

My only comment here is that from the BEAFS nomination thread, "piggery" was defined thusly...

Piggery is defined as boorish behaivior not becoming of an upstanding member of society.

Now while if you run back through the history of the website, you might find some pretty interesting comments, but I don't think you'll find anything that condones or even really encourages some of the things that are being applauded from this years tour.  I understand that we all go away to have fun, but I will say that I'm not a real big fan of giving dirtbags a pat on the back for their low acts.

Maybe I'm just over the hill, but it saddens me to think that this could be considered as an acceptable category for BEAFS... even as a one-off.

Following further discussion I still feel that victa is jealous of the fact that he was not a part of it BUT I'm backing what crim said - when you go to uni games you represent not only the blue and gold lion of the touch club, but rather the whole syd uni. We are proudly united as one team. There has always been friendly rivalry between teams... but perhaps this year it was taken a little bit too far (I was not there and cannot pass judgment on who was to blame). New categories are always created at BEAFS i.e. Biggest Dummy spit aka Tammy Award but should we really create an award that recognises acts that tarnish our reputation? I was not there so maybe if you gave us examples of who would be nominated for the category "Acts of piggery" than it can be judged as to whether this catgeory deserves to be a part of BEAFS 2009.
